The Countdown

ok here we are just a few days from the movie opening and things are going fast. premiere, hop on the redeye, fill in for regis, do letterman---all to mobilize our people and our people's people to see this movie so we can make more and more of them and take mulder and scully into their old age. or close. did the press junkets this weekend, 10 hours a day of answering the same question and as i blabbed on and on i realized a couple things---this movie is really about the eternal balancing act of love and work, of passion for a goal or quest and passion for a man or woman----this is mulder and scully i'm talking about. this partnership plays out in a emotional way while they are tring to solve this freaky (my kids' word) mystery that may unravel and unravel them. the case pushes mulder away from scully but also toward her, love and work impossibly intertwined until a choice must be made. what is the choice? see the movie.

batman's got everybody scared that we can't do business, and well, it is some kind of a box office juggernaut. but i want to believe. i want to believe that our loyal fans will go see us right away (see some of you at the premiere tomorrow) and they will bring friends who never watched the x files and they will tell a friend and we will become viral and keep growing and hang on for weeks. a boy can dream. see you at the movies.

Dear David

I hear you are doing much better now?

I'm in the process of thanking folk online for supporting me with my warbling. You are one of the people I also wish to thank after certain past chats. :-)

I have wonderful news. After performing a charity gig on Friday I have been invited back - this time it will be paid work. :-) Also teamed up with a pianist and doing Ivor Novello and songs from musicals. One of his sons is an actor and made his debut in Coronation St. He also did a few episodes of Dr Who! :-) John composes his own music and said my voice is most suited to it. I was very touched and am performing his melodies along with the other genres for a charity coffee day in a local tea room and resturant. After this we are being taken on as regular professional artists! SO I finally landed my dream job! :-)

This has all come about ever since I got my CD to you through Frank in London. You guys have just got to be links somewhere. Maybe you were my brothers...or sisters in a past life? Now I'm remembering
'The Field Where I Died'! LOL!

Love always!

David,

Im a huge X Files fan, but the biggest thing I was looking forward to in the 2nd movie didn't happen, and that was a Mulder-Scully love scene. Everything else fit perfect, felt like old times... but after 15 years it seems like the two characters can still cut the sexual tension with a knife!

Hope everything is well with you and your current family turmoil. Get better soon.

Dear David

You more than likely won't read this for a good long while? But I just read the awful news and I'm praying for you. Wish I could chat again but I know that's out of the question and it has been 4 years. Just please try and get through this. If I can only be there in spirit then I will be. Sending a guardian angel to watch over you.

Life can suck real bad sometimes but it WILL get better. Believe it!

Keep working and stay safe!

Just wanted to add a suggestion. Why not concentrate on writing a book and just empty all your frustrations and heart into it? It doesn't even matter if it isn't published. But it is another way of letting out those inner demons that try and torture us sometimes in our lives. You know I've read some of your 'other' work...and you are a wonderfully expressive writer. Anyway it's just a thought?

Dear David,

I just saw pictures of you taken on the set of your new movie, and I have to admit, I’m worried!

Please don’t let them get to you! And please try to ignore all the crap they are writing about you now. (I sure as hell do!)

And please take good care of yourself! I know from experience that’s not easy.

Best wishes

David,

Just wanted say that I hope somehow through all the difficulties you are going through, you can sense and feel the love and prayers and good thoughts coming your way. And I hope you find strength in that and in the knowledge that you are loved and appreciated by a lot of people who have never even met you. We know you're not perfect and have flaws just like the rest of us, but you have touched our lives in a positive way and we will not forget that. God bless you, David.

Dear David,

My name is Alexander. I'm from Russia (north-west of Karelia). For many years I've watched the X-files seasons (some of them for several times)and I have always been amazed at your brilliant play (performance) and the play of Gillian Anderson. With many fans like me I loved, hated, sympathised, felt joy about this or that scene / season / character. This is THE BEST movie (I mean all 9 seasons + 2 films) I have ever watched! The X-files and Fox Mulder inspired me to look closer at paranormal cases, UFO's theme, etc. Well.. I would like to say so much about the X-files, to share all my emotions that I've had since 1990's... I was looking for this opportunity to conctact you in the Internet and finally I found this wonderful blog of yours. All I say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the years you presented to the audience as a brilliant actor along with your partner Gillian Anderson. You are and will be my best actors and movie characters in my life. Recently I've bought a disk with "The X-files. I want to believe" movie. And there was also the first movie "The X-files" (1998) that I could watch in English and in Russian. When I watch it in English, it's better in many cases: live English speech is better, than any translation. I wish you good luck and creative work. If the X-files continue, I'm convinced that all the fans will be extremely excited and glad like me. If you have time, could you please comment upon this message somehow, so that I know that you got it. I would be VERY thankful to you!!
Kind regards,
Alexander

I've enjoyed your work for years now and I'm very much looking forward to your new movie. I just hope you know just how much support there is for you from all your fans. We love you!

You have my support more and more right now. Although you need to do this alone, you are not alone out there. A lot of people care about you. Don't give up.

Dear David, I'm watching the world from fifty something year old eyes. I see the most important things are the little ones holding our hands to protect them from the big bad world. Hello Mr Duchovny,

I'm new to all of the X-Files but I love it! Thank god that my sister showed it to me after I'd finished my exams; otherwise it could have been a bit encumbering on my resolve to study.

I guess I’m writing to say thanks for sticking with Fox and The X-Files as long as you did. Seasons 4, 5 and 6 are all amazing. My favourite episodes so far would have to be Bad Blood, Dreamland, Memento Mori, The Post-Modern Prometheus and a few others I can’t remember the name of.

I also would like to add on to what Rachelle said below, what is it that makes you love the episodes you listed? Are there also episodes that you liked more than others not because of the end product but because of the filming periods?

Best Regards, and thanks for the blogs,

DD - I'm posting to your last blog even though the content is not pertinent. This is the first time I've ever read/commented on a blog. I heard a rumor that you are being asked to leave Californication. That is my favorite show and if you leave, there will be no show! I've just come from the Showtime website to tell them how I feel. Please say it "ain't" so. Also, we - your fans - know you've been going through a lot of personal stuff, but we'd love to hear from you. Your blog has been silent for too long. Come back, please.

Hello :)

I feel disappointed that I happened upon this much later, but I suppose life just doesn't always work out perfectly, eh?
The first movie was on a few months ago, and I decided I needed to watch The X-Files all over again, so I set about getting all the DVD's. I used to read the books that came out when I was younger, much more than watching the show since it took me a few years to be able to watch mostly anything on a screen.
Point is, after watching it all together, I have rediscovered my love of the show and the characters. I've been watching episodes again for the last few days and just enjoying myself greatly. It's one of those things I can watch over and over again and never feel like it gets old.

Thank you for taking on that project all those many years ago and the wonderful performance. :) The show has brought so much to my life, and I am very grateful for it.

Duh! I received a response from Showtime and see that you are executive producer of Californication, so I doubt that you could be fired from the show. Duh! I could have/should have found that before I commented. We'd still love to see more blogging from you. BTW - wouldn't it make more sense to have the comments displayed with the most recent first? Take care.

Dear David

Sorry to hear you didn't get the award and last year has been so rough for you. I know a number of folks who had a bad time, including myself and my husband financially. He was wrongly sacked from his job. The good news is we are suing and will be getting compensation! Then he's coming with me to see Vancouver this time this summer. Here's hoping 2009 will be a much better year for you and everyone else I know who has struggled. Hope my CD helped a little? :-) I auditioned for a few TV talent shows and now have a music video up at youtube under my gig name Penny's From 'Evan - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nyXv2lcBHwQ,
my website and several others. Definatley didn't make the cut for the Andrew Lloyd Webber Euro comp. But then the women who were picked all had legs up to their armpits! So I didn't stand much of a chance (being disabled.) That's showbiz! Still I don't give up and at least I have a music video on the Net and the local job in the tearoom. It's meant so much to me to get support from my friends in the real world and online, and they keep me going! THANK YOU! :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

He is not a star.
The stars are living not here.
They are very far,
And they don't fear.

Their fate is brief,
And they are strong in grief.
But they cannot be killed
in a gloomy field...

They don't search the truth,
wasting their youth.
They just boring blink
over a deep brink...

He has such a thing -
About it people sing.
He is not a myth -
You know, he can breathe….

Incredible, it seems,
But he, too, has many dreams.
He can admire the night sky,
And, alas, he can cry….

There’re more reasons than five:
He is just alive.

He sadly gets into the car….
No, he is not a star….

Forgot to mention this ... I love the new movie. I was a bit reluctant to like it at first because of you and Scully being in a relationship together and it was hard to picture your character as being a deadbeat living off her, but it has grown on me.

I think what I like the best about the movie is how it focuses on your relationship and the scene with you and Gillian at the car towards the end was a real winner.

But I thought I'd try and let you know via the Blog (...just in case you read this?)

Hi David

If you happen to check out your old blog..?

I’d just like to say I’m so pleased your stretch on stage in New York was a success with folk. I saw you on November 5th and can say you definitely ‘nailed it’ in my opinion! It was wonderful to finally meet you, especially after chatting online in the distant past on a certain website. ;-)

To be able to personally thank you for encouraging me to keep writing was really special, and I appreciate the hug!

I know my husband was a bit of a handful (he was in the chat room, when you knew him as Moose! LOL!) But as you quickly found out he likes to treat everyone equally…and I know you warmed to him in the end, by signing his cap! :)

It was a thrill to be able to get my voice to you, as I tried in the past but was thwarted by jealous individuals! :(

Anyway it was an honour to do the gig and help raise money for UNICEF on behalf of The House of David Duchovny. Hope you enjoy it and try not to damage your spleen too much when you see my rendition of the Bree Sharp song! Because… a man really needs his spleen! LOL!

Have a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

All the best for the future!

Love, Penny xx

PS: Sadly tragedy also struck when my NY friend I’d known for 25 years, was taken ill. We were not able to meet as planned…and when I returned to the UK I found out from her sister that she had died, unexpectedly! I am however comforted that at least we got to speak to each other over the phone from our hotel room in New Jersey.

OK, I wrote it not so long ago. Just wanted to share... with nobody.

I tried to write the story of my life anew
And met you on The 2nd Avenue.
Your naked breast was shining like the Sun,
It made me wanting things I’ve never done.

Well, there was a woman – that was Tea,
And in my memory she looked like princess Leia.
I’m trying to be honest to the core:
I’m sorry, David, but I liked her more.

LOL

Dear David

I saw you playing in your stage debut “The Break of Noon”. I attended the evening performance on 5th and the 7th of December. You were wonderful as “John Smith”. I had read the book before I saw the play. You came across as John Smith exactly the way I had imagined. I loved your gesture, mimic and body language, especially in the emotional parts. I enjoyed the play very much. Thanks a lot for this great experience. I appreciate your work very much and hope to see you soon again on stage.

Take care,
Monika

P.S. I really hope that you will come back to this blog someday or lets say : "I want to believe"
